the opportunity to change an institution
CommBank has run the School Banking program for over 80 years and the Dollarmites are an important part of many Australian's early memories. Sadly the program had lost it’s focus and had become a cheap toy/reward giveaway. With competition from the other top banks growing, CommBank needed a new direction.
We were tasked with the job of making this year's campaign, fun and exciting. We did this by making the children into Savings Hunters, who are going to explore Savings Adventure Island - a mythical land of learning, imagining and fantastic adventures.
We developed a board game to help educate children to the benefits of saving their own treasure in a fun engaging way. As well as a fun treasure map illustrating the great rewards they can claim with the savings program.
To create this world of fun and fantasy, we used the award winning illustrator, Johan Potma, who helped take the concept to a new level. The results were amazing, CommBank recorded their highest enrolment in the School Banking program plus the campaign received internal recognition within CommBank being awarded their most successful product launch of 2012.
